Sighted Guide training
Practical training for care teams in the national standard for guiding people with sight loss safely and with confidence.
The right way to guide someone with sight loss
Sighted Guide is the national standard technique for guiding a person who is blind or partially sighted. The person being guided holds the guide's arm and walks half a step behind, while the guide describes what is coming up, such as steps, doorways and changes in the ground.
When everyone in a team uses the same method, people feel safer, move about more confidently and keep more of their independence.
What your team will learn
Our sessions are practical and hands-on, delivered by people with years of experience of sight loss.

Narrow spaces and doors
Moving safely through doorways, corridors and busy areas.
Steps and stairs

Training for care teams
We train care home and support teams so that everyone guides residents in the same, safe way. This gives staff confidence and improves residents' daily lives.
